Big Robots For The Win

Well the Warboss was finished off last week and since then I've taken to working on more stuff for my ever growing Ork army. This time I've brought something proper stompy to the table: Da Mega Dred!

Piloted by the nefarious Dok Rogrot-Snik.

I think my Warboss would struggle to bring him down in a fight, but that won't stop me trying.

I also finished some more Grots... so.... yeah?

Guns, Gas and Guts!

Welcome back race fans for the second installment of the Covid Cup. For this game, we changed up our cars and set up the start line. The game would end once one car had passed all four gates in order, the winner would be the driver who scored the most points.

Points awarded for:
Loot Crate 2pt
Passing a Gate 2pt
Passing the Final Gate 3pt
Wrecking An Opponent's Car 1pt

The racers are lined up (Bad Moon, V16 and Big Red) Ready... Set...

CARNAGE!
Big Red and V16 make a mad dash for the first gate, but V16 pulls ahead. Not looking to give the drag car a chance, Big Red went for the ram and spun V16 about face before it could clear the first gate.
Bad Moon follows the other two cars up the track...
...over taking the collision and clearing the gate ahead of the other racers. V16 pulls a unique approach to the track layout. Reversing through the gate and gunning the engine, V16 powers back towards the starting gate before smashing through a weakness in the barrier and heads towards the next gate.
Bad Moon, ahead of Big Red loses control crashes into shipping containers. In a desperate attempt to correct itself, the driver gravely misjudges the turn...

...driving back into the same containers and leaving itself exposed to Big Red's mini guns.

V16 clears the next gate and takes the lead. So far V16 holds the most points with 8, Big Red has 7 points following the wrecking of Bad Moon who only has 6 points.

V16 powers forward, but screws the turn, flipping the car and wrecking against the stadium wall.

Bad Moon respawns at the first gate and trys to copy V16's tactic of running the gap in the barriers. Big Red has all but abandoned the idea of racing and goes on the prowl for more targets.

Respawning at the second gate, V16 hits the nitro straight out the the door and makes a perfect last minute turn through the gap in the barriers. Looks like the jammy git is going for the final gate to end the race on a winning score.

Shame that Big Red followed him through the barriers and blew him up, putting Big Red and V16 both on 8 points. Bad Moon heads for the second gate looking to claw back some kind of victory.

Big Red turns into the approach for the second gate... from the wrong direction! If he clears the gate it will still count, but Bad Moon is looking to get past bullet spitting lunatic.

In a shower of twisted metal a fireworks, Bad Moon smashes the Big Red out of the way barrels towards the finish line. Big Red, failing to clear the second gate, respawns all the way back at the second gate. V16 stares back down the track at the approaching hunter.

Whilst Bad Moon has a clear run at the finish line, V16 executes a daring plan, blasting the nitros back along the track toward Big Red to claim a Loot Crate and then spinning in a desperate hope to get out before Big Red can get a shot off. It's not to be as the mini gun opens up and wrecks V16 AGAIN sending it back to the second gate. Big Red now has 11 points, V16 has 10. Bad Moon needs to clear the last gate to end the game and claim a final score of 12 to achieve victory.

But the gods of the Valhalla are cruel in their rewards. Big Red has the second gate in his sights and no one to oppose him, but he just can't get the power out of the engine. Instead of allowing his reign of destruction to go unremembered, Big Red spins the steering and flips the car. Through sheer momentum, Big Red tumbles through the second gate, ending on a respectable score of 13. But it's not over yet! V16 respawns at the second gate and blasts forward snatching the last 2 Loot Crates, grabbing a final score of 14 just as Bad Moon clears the finish line. V16 WINNER!

There you have it. A few changes to how I laid out the track and a change in objectives made for a very dramatic game. For records, though we changed cars it's still the same three people playing. Myself, Abe and Paggy, with Abe the one to beat as he has now won both races. I'm pretty sure that'll put a target on his back next time.

MORE DAKKA!

Heya all. Hope everyone is keeping safe and sane. I finished this chonky lad off today and managed to get a messy game of Gaslands in too. I'll do a write up of Gaslands later this week, but for now here's my new Warboss.

I needed a boss with a bigger gun for the freebooter army, but now he's done I feel like he'd fit better as a flash git in a Kill Team idea I had. The gold chains have given him a Mr. T kinda vibe. Any thoughts on the matter?

Cult of the Possessed Reborn

For most of this weeks hobby time i.e. 60% of my waking day at the moment, I've been finishing off my Cult of the Possessed. I finished the Cultists the other week so all that was left were the Cult's mutants and mad men to round of the warband. Here's the finished gang.

And some character pictures of the gribbily madness.

The Beastmen were an interesting experiment of parts and colours. I think they turned pretty cool.

This Possessed ended up my favourite model out of the whole project. He's a bit top heavy, but looks truly gruesome.

The Mutants were my take on similar conversions I'd seen others do on the internet. Using Goblins from the Hobbit range for the upper bodies and giving them some height with alternate legs.

Preparing for the Apocalypse

During these uncertain times, we try and come together (metaphorically) to help each other out. For me and my housemates that means preparing for the inevitable Road Warrior society we are heading towards. Let the races for the last of the bog roll begin!!!

Welcome to heat 1 of the Covid Cup. 3 racers take to the wasteland track in 4 heats to see who takes the coveted final roll of triple ply. The race starts with The King taking an early lead, Thunder Wasp laying down suppressing fire and The Stank brings up the rear.

The racers pass the first gate, Thunder Wasp takes the lead as The Stank blasts The King into a smoking wreck. Thunder Wasp takes a direct hit from the The Stank's 125mm cannon as well, but pulls away before the heavy artillery can finish the job.
The King wastes no time in getting back in the race after re-spawning at the first gate. Thunder Wasp passes gate 2 and holds the lead.

Determined to keep a good opponent down (permanently if they can) The Stank fire a few cheeky pistols in drive-by and take out The King's tires sending the racer back to the first gate.... again.
The Stank, chalking up 2 wrecks and clearing the second gate look to be gaining on Thunder Wasp, but the furious yellow racer clears gate 3 entering the home stretch.
Back of the pack, The King approaches gate 2.

Thunder Wasp has the finish line in his sights, The Stank is falling behind and unable to get a clear shot.
...and it's over! Thunder Wasp has won the first heat of the Covid Cup.
The Victorious speedster on the podium. Next race, The Stank will need to get in some more target practice and the King will need to get his act together.
